Género integrado por unas 110 especies afroasiáticas más una en Centroamérica. En el N de África 2 especies, D. draco, que además de en las islas macaronésicas mantiene una población relicta en los cortados rocosos del Anti-Atlas occidental (Marruecos) y D. ombet, del NE de África.
