ELATINACEAE Dumort.

Family comprised of 2 genera and about 57 species of cosmopolitan distribution but particularly diverse across the tropics. All species in the genus Elatine are herbaceous, mainly aquatic, while in Bergia there are some clearly woody subshrubs.
