Genista L.
Genus composed of approximately some 87 species. The circumscription of this genus has recently been expanded and it now includes genera traditionally considered a separate genus, such as Teline. It includes shrubs and subshrubs, spiny or not, with a range extending across Europe and the Mediterranean region, western Asia and Macaronesia.
