EPHEDRACEAE L.

Family of climbing or erect shrubs, consisting of a single genus, Ephedra, and about 70 species spread over the old world from the Mediterranean and Saharan areas to the Horn of Africa, Arabian Peninsula and Central Asia, and in America close to the Mediterranean biome and its surrounding areas (West Coast U.S., Chile, Argentina and Uruguay).
