POLYGALACEAE Hoffmanns. & Link

Family composed of about 30 genera and 1,160 species of trees, shrubs, herbs, and more rarely, woody lianas, widespread throughout almost the entire world. In North Africa it is only represented by the genus Polygala, the genus with the highest number of species worldwide.
