Aeonium Webb & Berthelot

Genus composed of some 90 species, mainly in the Canary Islands, and also in the Macaronesian Islands, Morocoo and Ethiopia. In North Africa a single species is found, A. korneliuslemsii, a shrublet of areas with a macaronesian influence in SW Morocco (the westernmost parts of the High Atlas and Anti-Atlas), with a small relict population in the central Rif coast. The Moroccan species has traditionally been confused with A. arboreum, endemic to the Canary Islands naturalised in some parts of Morocco and the Iberian Peninsula.
