Boscia Lam.

Genus composed of 32 accepted species, from about a hundred initially described, from central and southern Africa. Trees, small to medium in size, reaching 5-7 m in height, with a dense crown. Leaves lanceolate with short pedicel. Flowers small, very fragrant, with 4 free sepals, without petals, grouped in yellowish-green racemes. Fruit globose, indehiscent. In North Africa there are 2 species of tropical shrubs that reach to the N to the mountain ranges of central Sahara (B. senegalensis) and to the NE part to Egypt (B. angustifolia).
