Ligustrum L.

Genus with about 40 species, distributed throughout Asia (Caucasus, Asia Minor and Iran), NE Australia, Europe and North Africa (Morocco). Many of them are grown for their ornamental value. In North Africa it is represented by a single species, L. vulgare, of Mediterranean distribution.
