Vitex L.

Genus composed of about 220 species, distributed mainly in tropical and subtropical regions of the world, with some species in temperate zones. In North Africa it is represented by a single species, V. agnus-castus, of Mediterranean distribution, that following rivers and oases reaches the northern edge of the Sahara.
