Herbaceous plant with lignified rootstock or fruticose subshrub 20-60 cm in height, glandular-hairy. Leaves simple 0.5-2 × 0.4-1 cm, ovate, with a single prominent vein, villous and glandular-hairy. Petiole 0.2-1.2 cm. Flowers in long terminal racemes in the bract axils (bracts similar to leaves), at the ends of the branches. Pedicels 0.5-1.5 cm, thickened when fruiting. Sepals 2-8 × 1-2 mm. Petals yellow, obovate, 4-8 × 1.5-3 mm. Stamens 10-14. Fruit an ovate-oblong capsule, 6-8 × 2-3 mm, compressed, glandular, pendant. Seeds 1 mm, globose-reniform, glabrous and reticulate.

Habitat:
Rocky or sandy wadis and plains.
Distribution:
Sahara oriental, península arábiga e Irán. En el N de África su área ocupa el extremo SE de Libia, N del Chad, E y S de Egipto and Sudán.
Conservation status:
Rare but widely distributed species. Currently, it has not been assessed at a global level in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
