Hibiscus L.

Genre comprenant environ 240 espèces réparties dans les régions tropicales et tempérées. Il est représenté par 3 espèces arbustives dans le N. de l’Afrique, auxquelles il conviendrait d’ajouter H. trionium L., plante méditerranéenne à tiges herbacées. Le genre est composé de plantes herbacées annuelles ou vivaces, de sous-arbustes, arbustes et petits arbres, à tiges hispides, rarement glabres, généralement à poils étoilés.
