Boscia Lam.

Género integrado por 32 especies aceptadas de alrededor de una centena descritas inicialmente, del centro y S de África. Son árboles de pequeño a medio tamaño que alcanzan los 5-7 m de altura, con una copa densa. Hojas lanceoladas con pedicelo corto. Flores pequeñas muy olorosas, 4 sépalos libres, sin pétalos, agrupadas en racimos de color verde amarillento. Frutos globosos indehiscentes. En el N de África viven 2 especies de arbustos tropicales que por el N llegan hasta los macizos montañosos del Sahara central (B. senegalensis) y por el extremo NE hasta Egipto (B. angustifolia).
