Crotalaria L.

Género tropical y subtropical con unas 700 especies, sobre todo africanas (500), que incluye hierbas anuales o perennes, arbustos erectos y arbustillos postrados. El género se halla muy bien representado en el Sahara meridional, con al menos una docena de especies, pero son pocos los arbustos. En el centro y N del Sahara está integrado por 4 especies leñosas, salvo una, son arbustillos más o menos postrados, sólo leñosos en la base de los tallos.
