Hertia Less.

Género integrado por 9 especies de distribución africana. En el N del continente 2 especies, de distribución mediterráneo-sahariana: H. maroccana, arbusto endémico de Marruecos, y H. cheirifolia, una hierba perenne de hasta 1 m de altura, con área basal endurecida pero no leñosa. Tallos y follaje muy densos. Hojas alternas, un poco carnosas, oblongas, mucronadas, las inferiores cuneadas, las superiores sésiles, con margen entero, escabroso. Capítulos de unos 4 cm de diámetro y flores amarillas. Es un endemismo de las partes esteparias del NE de Argelia y centro de Túnez, desde casi el nivel del mar (en Túnez) hasta unos 1400 m (Atlas Sahariano, Argelia).
