Ulex L.

Tradicionalmente se han considerado sólo a 2 especies en el N de África, pero, tras la revisión del género que hizo Cubas en 1984 y alguna aportación posterior (Rivas Martínez, 1986), se propusieron 4 nuevas especies con posible presencia en el N de Marruecos (U. canescens Lange, U. eriocladus C.Vicioso, U. borgiae Rivas-Mart. y U. australis Clemente). No obstante, las diferencias entre ellas eran tan sutiles que hoy se siguen considerando las 2 especies tradicionales.

1 Arbusto erguido, con ramas extendidas y por lo general erecto-patentes, hasta de 2 m de altura. Espinas primarias de hasta 3 cm y secundarias de menos de 1cm. Flores con cáliz de 7-10 mm, viloso-sedoso, con pelos cortos muy aplicados Ulex parviflorus

1 Arbustillo hasta de 0,8(1) m de altura, hemisférico. Espinas primarias más o menos igual de largas que las secundarias. Flores cáliz de 10-14 mm, con pelosidad poco aplicada Ulex baeticus
